The 15 Day trip to Vietnam - The Mandarin Route - Day 7 (morning cont.) - Hue - An Bang Village - The Royal Tomb of Minh Mang - The 24th of May 2016

(...)

Located on the west side of the Perfume River, the Mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang, who died in 1841 is one of the most impressive Royal tombs mainly because of the huge complex which comprises palaces, temples, pavilions, picturesque lakes and gardens  designed on a dymmetric axis running from the Dai Hong gate to the foot of the surrounding wall behind the Emperor's  tomb offering a balance of landscaping and architecture which is believed to be related to the sought balance Minh Mang tried to achieve throughout his reigning period.

We strolled around the honour courtyard via the three gates and the Sun An Temple via the terraces and the Hien Duc Gate for hours in what turned out to be one of the most interesting  and "slow moving"visits of our circuit.
