Special lunch at a Nomad camp, Iran - The 16th of August 2018

Soon after returning from the river and once we collected our things and put them in the car we went over to the neighbouring camp where we had been at the previous day, so as to have a special rice one of the ladies had offered to make for us.

I brought a few presents for the children, amongst which was a game they fell in love with almost immediately. The two siblings and the cousine took me around the Nomad camp area prior to having had lunch with them.

The rice was fabulous and as the children played with Isaac I spoke to the lady who had actually made lunch for us. I surprisingly realised she held a degree and despite having lived in the city for a couple of years had opted to come back to the mountains and continue leading a Nomadic type of life.

A couple of teenagers came over to the camp upon their return from a Nomad wedding ceremony, which the three of us missed, and prompted us to walk a bit further in the mountain so as to meet their parents, which we gladly did.

The Nomad women did resemble many of the Portuguese women who live in country villages, so a certain feeling of familiarity took over me almost immediatly. We spent some time talking to them, as well as some opium smokers, whose photos I am not publishing for obvious reasons, until we finally decided to hit the road to another Nomad camp some miles away.
