Despite eating mussels quite regularly I must honestly confess I had never seen nor heard of the New Zealand Perna Canaliculus (better known as green lipped mussels), which clearly differ from any of the other mussel species I have had in the past.
Edgar, one of our trip companions decided to buy some, after having heard our guide talk about them, and cooked them for us. I found them rather tasty and in a way better than the ones I am used to.
