The 16 Day circuit around South Africa - Day 10 (cont.) - Bloemfontein - The National Museum; night at the Bayswater Lodge - The 5th of February 2020

(...)

We headed to Bloemfontein named after a fontain many early travellers are said to have often stopped on their trekks through the interior. We didn't see the city but through the bus windows because we went straight to the National Museum.

The visit was quite interesting, particularly when it came to the reconstructing a 19th century Bloemfontein street and its multiple shops. I found some of the paintings and artistic pieces of art to be good, namely the acrylic canvas depicting a Khoisan queen.

The night was spent at a beautifully decorated lodge situated in a residential area. My bedroom was right in front of the lapa and the outdoor pool surrounded by trees, which meant I spent some time strolling around the area as I smoked my cigarette before actually going to bed.
