Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha Jodhpur is said to epitomise the feudal splendour of Rajasthan. Often referred to as "the blue city" due to the vivid blue painted houses most of which to be seen around the Mehrangarh Fort it is also a rather peculiar city to wander about, particularly at sunset (as we did).
Strolling along the dirty back streets was quite an experience as we headed towards an old herb and spice centre where many of us bought tea and spices before continuing our walk around the "bazaar" areas.
Having been quite a long day we felt the need to go to bed without much delay as the following day was expected to be quite a long travelling day as well (a six hour drive to Udaipur).
