Among the most outstanding pavilions we visited was the Anup Mahal built by the Maharajah Anup Singh in 1690 as his Hall of Private Audience.
Sumptuously decorated, as visible in the photos, it is said to be a rather
ingenious imitation of Mughal pietra dura work, with its lime- plaster
walls polished to a high lustre covered with red and gold lacquer
patterns profusely embellished with mirrors and gold leaf.
No detail seemed to have been overlooked in the decoration process ... I was simply speechless ... (still am as I thoroughly look at the photos which were taken) ... no words will ever be able to describe the artistic beauty ...
