The Rajastahn circuit - Day 3 - Junagarth Fort (cont.) - The 17th of November 2012

(...)

Among the most outstanding pavilions we visited was the Anup Mahal built by the Maharajah Anup Singh in 1690 as his Hall of Private Audience.

Sumptuously decorated, as visible in the photos, it is said to be a rather ingenious imitation of Mughal pietra dura work, with its lime- plaster walls polished to a high lustre covered with red and gold lacquer patterns profusely embellished with mirrors and gold leaf.

No detail seemed to have been overlooked in the decoration process ... I was simply speechless ... (still am as I thoroughly look at the photos which were taken) ... no words will ever be able to describe the artistic beauty ...

(To be continued)
