The Rajasthan circuit - Day 4 - On the way to Jaisalmer - The 18th of November 2012

We left the Lallgarth Palace hotel fairly early. As I looked around, it didn't look as stunning as in the night before, though still undeniably beautiful.

The rather tiring and monotonous seven hour bus drive through the Tar desert region that would take us to Jaisalmer forced us to stop a few times along the way. Pokhran was such a stopping point. Surrounded by rocky sand the name of this vilage means " the place of five mirages".

As we headed towards its 14th century citadel,  very close to where we were going to have lunch at I still had time to distribute a few more decorated pens and lollipops to a few children having had quite a few surprising reactions on the part of the few boys who approached me, as they seemed a lot more interested in the "feminine" decorated pens than the ones I had brought for them.

Before reaching Jaisalmer we were held up in the traffic because of the crossing of a train, so similarly to everyone else, who had just left the cars behind to stand up  close to the train rails, we got off the bus and like  curious little children photographed the little train station and the freight train ... though we had (I believe) expected it to be a passengers' train.

By the time we finally got to the Brys Fort, where we would be staying for the next two nights just in time to change to go out towards a specific location from which we would be observing the sun going down over the city, we didn't immediately realise we were in for some (this time quite deserved)  luxurious nights.
