Christmas ... or childhood memories ...

" All that happens means something; nothing you do is ever insignificant".

                                                                                                             Aldous Huxley

Christmas at Figueira inevitably brings with it memories of my childhood ... a childhood filled with books, many of which remained inaccessible on the wall covered shelves, whilst others were locked in bookcases (still inaccessible), fuelling our imagination and creativity  ...

added by the fact that Art being "embedded" in the walls and ceilings of the house was also to be seen everywhere with many of the artistic pieces having come from far away continents (... the Chinese vases with their long robed figures ... the bucolic tapestries from Flanders ... the wide variety of oil reproductions unveiling stories and new horizons ...)

... together with those huge and mysterious trunks,  we were not allowed to touch and whose contents none of us was supposed to ask about ...
