Mia had vaguely mentioned the Copenhagen's Sand Sculpture Festival 2012 and though she had been enthusiastic by what she had read about it, it was not necessarily going to be part of our major attractions, unless we had time.
We were rather fortunate in having come across it as we were photographing the Opera House. The access was not free but it was worth the money we paid for it, because as far as these type of sculptures are concerned I had never seen anything like it ... and doubt I ever will.
The moment we set our eyes on the first of the 21 sand sculptures being exhibited we were mesmerised.
"The Ice Age" - Bagrat Stepanyan (Russia)
"The Evolution" - Daniel Doyle (Ireland)
"The first animals" - Jolanna Sandwish (Germany)
"The Antique Greece" - Delayne Corbett (Canada)
"The Middle Age" - Edith van de Vetering and Wilfred Stijger (the Netherlands)
"Egypt and the Pyramids" - Maria Torp Hansen (Denmark)
(to be continued)
