Kermanshah, Iran - Day 1 (morning) - Strolling around the old Bazaar - The 14th of August 2019

We reached Kermanshah in the early hours of the morning after what ended up not being too hard a bus journey because we managed to sleep most of the way otherwise the 9 hour trip might have been hard.

We took a local taxi to the suburb where our host family lived and were soon shown the house and the bedroom we would occupy. Morteza and Masoomeh prepared breakfast for us while we had a shower and not much longer we were out on a guided city tour that started in the old part of the uncovered bazaar.

Having Masoomeh as our guide proved to be an exceptional way of being introduced to the Kurdistan way of living, traditions and customs. We were shown workshops that fabricate mattresses and rugs tinged with natural colour pigments in the old traditional way, as well as an array of agricultural and cooking instruments, not to mention the seeds and herbs used for medicine.

We were really impressed and prior to having visited the gold alley I had the chance of being bought some herbs and honey that mixed together in the right portions proved to cure my kidney infection in no time, to be precise - in just two days and in a rather painless way.

(To be continued)
