Italy over Carnival - Siena - The 23rd and 24th of February 2020

We reached Siena late in the evening to find out that Alma Domus was fairly distant from the train station. To find a place where to eat was equally difficult but we managed to do so in the end.

The following day was entirely dedicated to strolling around and venturing into  the corners of that  medieval city, where only Mia had been to before.  Although the number of tourists wasn't as high as in the previous Italian cities we had visited it was still considerable, we therefore opted once more to stay outdoors and not venture into overcrowded Museum visits and such. We came across some rather exquisite local shops, did a bit of shopping and spent some rather valuable time getting to "know" its highlights from an outside perspective.

The last thing we visited in the city, prior to getting on the train back to Pisa, was part of the compound our Hotel was in - the Sanctuary of Saint Catherine.

Our envisaged Carnival experience in Italy ended up being reduced to putting on some Carnival masks, though the three of us still felt it had been worth it.
