I soon walked into the Franciscan Monastery lower Cloister not before having photographed the Pieta portal crowning the 14th century Southern entrance to the church I would later visit.
The inner courtyard walls covered in frescoes depicting the life of St. Francis and his animals was noteworthy, but so was its spectacular balustrade with double -pillared columns ornamented with a wide variety of different geometric, plant, human and animal-like figures, some of which quite impressive.
I then walked into its Museum housing a remarkable number of lithurgical artifacts, none of which could be photographed. One of the most impressive exhibited elements of this visit though was one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe dating from the 15th century, which pertaining to the Museum couldn't be photographed either.
