The largest bazaar in Samarkand is adjacent to the Bibi Kahnym Mosque and what an incredible section of dry fruits of all sorts it has !... We just got lost in it ... photographing the vendors, looking at those tempting dried "delicacies", ... and actually buying bags filled with some of those. It was almost irresistible.
The Afrasiyab hill just in front was partly covered with graves, whose tomb stones we could see from where we were. The ancient Khazret Khizr mosque set the difference.
We finally sat down to have lunch in a rather interestingly decorated restaurant, whose washing basin was located out in the street. We had a fantastic meal in readiness for a long afternoon, which would take us into the outskirts of Samarkand and back into the Afrosiyab hill.
(To be continued)
