The Uzbek culture and traditions circuit, Urgut market - Day 9 (morning cont.) - The 15th of September 2013

(...)

Strolling around the market for about one hour provided me with the unique opportunity to "feel" the atmosphere, as well as engage in gesture-like conversation with quite a few women selling "suzani" and jewellery. Kindness was a common feature and very often the impossibility to communicate in any language that was "understandable" for both parties involved ending up either in simultaneous laughter or an exchange of rather shy smiles.

On the way back to Samarkand we stopped briefly by a local farm where tobacco leaves were being dried in order to take some pictures.

A fairly late lunch had been arranged at the hotel we were staying at and the truth is it was "too western"  (a minestroni type of soup and a hamburger) for my taste, which had since the first day got "hooked" onto the local cuisine.

(To be continued)
