On the way to Calheta de São Miguel - Santiago island, Cape Verde - Lisbon airport; Praia - Residencial Santa Maria; organizing the packs to be handed out to the children - The 9th and 10th of February 2018

The whole project related to the children we "care for" in Cape Verde implies quite a lot of "unaccounted" preparatory work prior to embarking. Getting the packs of clothes, school material and toys ready for the children and having them identified takes time. I must confess it was harder this time, once I was working in the South and North during the weeks preceding the flight and by the time I boarded the aricraft that would take us to Praia I was particularly exhausted.

My project companion was once again my French friend Noelle, though we were accompanied by Terenas and his wife, who had just become "school godparents" of a couple of siblings a month before. The airport procedures were fortunately overcome without too many problems thanks to Terenas and another Air Traffic Controller who set authorizations in motion before we embarked.

Having been given a hotel bedroom praising Nacia Gomi, the batuque singer and composer felt like a good pressage, for no particular reason besides the fact that she was a rather special character in the Cape Verdian musical field.

Having reached Calheta a few hours before the children's Carnival parade allowed me and Noëlle to unpack and have the whole floor of our bedroom pension, as well as our beds filled with the presents for the children in readiness to be later distributed.
