Calheta de São Miguel, Santiago island - Cape Verde - The handing out of the presents - The 10th of February 2018 (early afternoon)

Because we knew the children wouldn't come before three taking into account the fact that they were participating in the parade I took the opportunity of showing Terenas and his wife Sonia what the village was like. So, we made it it towards the fishing harbour in the company of my special helpers (Leinira and Tarine).

As we had expected the first adolescents showed up by three. Silvana having been the first to come.

A number of children and adolescents started gathering outside the pension awaiting to be handed out their presents and the more I thought about it the less I felt we would be able to hand out the 178 packs we had in the limited amount of time, particularly bearing in mind the fact that I'd have to photograph every single handing out.

Elizandro with his mother and the newly "godparented" siblings Elisa and Eliana (the youngest of the two).

At one point Terenas had to start distracting the children as they waited for their turn, which wasn't easy due to the long hours and the excitment.
