The Rajasthan circuit - Day 10 - The Amber Fort Palace (cont.) - The 24th of November 2012

(...)

One could see the Jaigarh Fort in the distance protecting the Amber Fort ramparts, as they are both considered one single complex connected by a subterranean passage, as well as the Kesar Kyari Bagh with its star-shaped flower beds said to have been once planted with saffron  flower (kesar).

The farthest end of the fort was converted into a "zenana" (women's quarter), where we could still see some faint traces of frescos.

When the visit was over we drove towards the Man Sagar Lake where the Jal Mahal ( Water Palace) could be seen in the distance. Built in the mid-eighteenth century by Madho Sing I it looked quite interesting as far as the architecture is concerned.

(To be continued)
