It is true that in any relationship, be it intimate or not ... at one moment in time we only see what we want to see ... and cling onto our expectations and the image we often (and sometimes wrongly) fabricate about the others and their personality traits based mostly on what they allow you (or not) to see.
I have got used to losing some battles ... but have also learned that irrespective of the result, even when one strips you off everything you have and feel, one will never ever be able to strip you off the commitment you have put into those relationships (whichever they might be) and how much you have given of yourself ...
