Because I still had some bracelets and rings Surama and Sérgio had so kindly given me to offer the girls last June, as I was travelling to Cape Verde to organize Justina's birthday party, I decided to hand out the extra ones to the newcomer girls ... and the expressions on their faces, as they had them put on, "speak" of the genuine happiness they felt ...

Elcy (Left) and Patrícia (Right) wearing the bracelets and rings.
These girls are not commonly used to having things given to them unless they need them..., so their gratitude can sometimes be touching. They may not be able to always express it, but the words (though apparently very simple) they decided to write on the cards they wanted both their "Godmothers", and Ana Maria (a colleague of mine who paid for their morning and afternoon "coffee breaks" of biscuits and juice throughout the week) were genuine and heartfelt ...

I just wish some of the adults, we get in touch with everyday, were as thankful as these children ...
