New Zealand circuit - Lyttelton - Day 18 - The 16th of March 2019 (morning)

Our guide lived in Lyttelton, so we drove just by for her to get her own things organized prior to dropping the trip colleagues who were flying back home at the airport.

We took advantage of the time we were given to stroll around a local fair going on. Having been the landing place of the Canterbury Pilgrims in 1850 the area was named after Lord Lyttelton, chairman of the Lyttelton Association. Buildings of the colonial past could be seen along the main road, together with some rather peculiar constructions, naturally associated to the Maori. The overall atmosphere was one of joy and cultural mingling, as the stalls from a wide variety of different country origins stood side by side. I could understand why Lindy had chosen to live here despite the distance.

Creativity surprised me at every step of the way. The sound of jazz could be heard as a street musician of undistinguishable origin played. A classic musical choir was singing just a few metres away ... their voices were astounding ... I didn't know which way to turn ... I tried some Syrian sweet buns and could have tried some Italian cheese just across from the first stall ...

I personally felt Lyttelton could provide a wide range of interesting things for all sorts of tastes and ... that was possibly one of the things that determined why so many young people were settling there.
