The 6 day trip to Denmark and the United Kingdom - The last afternoon - Copenhagen - the 22nd of June 2012

Having gone back to the hotel to collect our backpack just made us realise the painful reality that the following day we would no longer be wandering about the streets of Copenhagen that we had fallen in love with.

Each trip leads to a different experience and unique in its own way ... though the truth was ... we would miss "our" Copenhagen.

Apart from the very few little things, amongst which were catalogues and tickets of the places we had visited and a few pieces of jewellery bought in Malmö, which  I packed and would forever remind me of those four days, I would also be carrying along a lot of good "invisible" memories embedded in my heart.

 

 

London is where we were bound to. We were looking forward to it, as the last time we had been there together was 18 years ago.

I have had a trip to Birmania postponed twice, for reasons which were beyond my resolution capability, but the moment I saw Steve McCurry's photos of the monks and the fishermen I felt like that would undoubtedly be the place I would like to visit next. There was some sort of silent disturbing beauty in them ...

... and there again the portraits ... the eyes ... those equally disturbing eyes ...

We sat down for about one hour in a room inside the exhibition premises where two of Steve McCurry's documentaries were being shown. Behind the last row of chairs there was a long table with some coffee and a few apples that any of the visitors could grab ...

By the time we left Oksnehallen the rain hadn't stopped and so we decided to head to Kastrup Airport even if we would have to hand around for a few hours ...

What can one say about Steve McCurry's photos? Despite having  numerous reproductions of his photos and having known in advance what to expect of this exhibition I must confess I was  extremely impressed by  the expressions of many of the people depicted in his photos ... Is it the angle ? ... or the fact that he captures a lot more than what the image may disclose the first moment we look at it ?... is it the vibrant colours ... the setting ?... I honestly can't say ...

They were organised by different countries ... and we started with India and Afghanistan ... Having photographed only some of his photos doesn't mean I was not impressed by them all but just that I followed my first feelings, being incapable of taking them all.

We continued with the series of "Complicated relationships in India" by Tobias Selnaes Markussen, followed by the sequence of photos taken by David Hogdholt, who has been following the drug addiction of a young lady, Mia since 1999, those taken by Mads Nissen to Lybian cityscapes and finally the ones by Miriam Dalsgaard.

"Hope" - Arif Mahmud, 26 and Rashna, 21 have been together for two years despite their families not approving of the relationship. The couple hopes and believes their families will one day fully accept their relationship"
