Having left the KunstMuseum we strolled back onto the main pedestrian street having finally taken the time to stop at the late Gothic Bern Minster, whose central portal I was astounded by. It is decorated with a series of statues representing the last judgement. On it we could also perceive images of the wise and fool Virgins.
Once we entered the Cathedral the vaulted ceiling with its lace-like strucutre caught my attention almost immediately. It took me a certain time to lower down my eyes, as I admired its intricate work. Amidst the beautiful carvings and stained glass windows stood a modern sculpture built up with x-rays, which I found to be rather interesting, particularly as under different circumstance it might sound inadequate. Modernity is being introduced in churches and I don't dislike it.
Bern seemed to me as potentially being a city of details, which need to be looked at and appreciated even when the observer does not quite understand what lies behind them. Prior to having caught a train to Germany we took one last picture of a wooden figure (Christ? ... and Apostle?) on the train station that we both felt for.
