The 6 day trip to Denmark and the United Kingdom - the afternoon of the second day - Tivoli, Copenhagen - the 20th of June 2012

Having got back to Copenhagen fairly early, we decided to spend some time at Tivoli,  regarded as a national treasure for being part amusement park, part wonderland and cultural venue as well. It was opened in 1843 and it is said to have over 1, 000 trees.

We didn't know what to expect though judging by the admission fee it would have to be something worth visiting.

It was certainly grandiose at the first impact. We just strolled around without any specific direction though we decided we shouldn't be too far off the several stage areas, so as to be able to watch any performance that might be scheduled.

We soon realised that neither of the Concert Hall nor the Pantomime Theatre would be hosting any performance, but the visit was nevertheless interesting.

The Concert Hall, built in 1956  is said to host concerts, which range from rock to symphonies (partly seen in the picture on the left).

The Pagoda houses a restaurant said to have been there since its construction and specialises in Chinese cuisine.

The Moorish Palace houses several Nimb restaurants, whose atmosphere is said to be very lively.

The Pantomime Theatre housed in a Chines-style pavilion which dates back to the early 19th century is siad to house regular performances.

The entrance door, which is a beauty to look at is said to have been built in 1890.

We left the Tivoli gardens in a happy mood despite the fact that we didn't watch any performances nor tried out any food at the forty existing restaurants.
