Isfahan, Iran - Day 1 (afternoon) - "Siesta" time and the handing out of presents - The 11th of August 2019

(...)

I had almost forgotten what one is supposed to do when under very high temperatures - avoid being exposed to the sun around lunch time, drink a lot of liquids and rest till early evening (when everyone seems to have regained the energy to go out). This approach reminded me of the one Spaniards follow in the warmer areas of their country. It wasn't too difficult to convince us to follow such strategies, so by the time we reached "home" and had a traditional Iranian vegetable soup, we prepared ourselves for the afternoon "siesta" that lasted till early evening, when our host's brother and family came around to visit us.

We distributed the presents we had brought for them and were particularly happy to see they had enjoyed them, especially the children, who in no time had put on the new clothes we had also brought for them.

We had spent a rather relaxing first day in Isfahan but were looking forward to what the second day would unveil.
