Summer English Course (short duration) for 7-11 year olds - The last day - The 22nd of August 2014

For the first time, since the beginning of these series of short duration courses, I decided not to have any presentation prepared for the parents, the main reason being the fact that there was a significant age difference within the group, which made it difficult for me to choose adequate theatrical roles for them to play in such a short period of time, but despite that, we still got our classroom organised with the artistic pieces they had made over the week and briefly rehearsed what would supposedly happen when they were handed out their attendance certificates.

I felt all the children were happy with what they had achieved artistically, more than what they had managed to acquire linguistically, which was actually a lot under the circumstances. I must add I felt happy, as well as proud.

The handing out of the certificates was a grand moment for both the children and their parents. The fact that they were handed out by the director of the Training Centre made the whole ceremony rather pompous, and despite there being no presentation the atmosphere wasn't too different.

Following a short speech made by the Director and the viewing of the best pictures taken throughout the course the children led their parents and grandparents to the upper floor where our classroom had been for them to see the artistic exhibition.

I witness the fact that most parents and grandparents were not prepared for what they ended up seeing, as the children stood behind their artistic pieces. They all marvelled at those and more so when they realised the children were carrying them home.

The "magic" moments were over but I am sure they will linger on for much longer ...
