The latest book I have read ...

I had been looking forward to buying the latest Kahled Hosseini's book - And the mountains echoed (paperback version) for a while but didn't seem to be able to until I decided to have it sent to me from abroad and not surprisingly read it in just four days.

There is something about Hosseini's style of writing that doesn't let go and has me hooked onto every word he chooses to put down on paper. It has happened with his previous books, so why should it be different this time? But it was ... it is " his most assured and emotionally gripping story yet", according to the New York Times critic review, which I fully agree with

"An exquisitely rendered study of familial bonds ... the novel is a dizzying array of voices and places that allows the reader to luxuriate in Hosseini's rich, textured language." - Literary Review

" A multi-generational saga of familial love, honour, sacrifice and betrayal, that not only meets all expectations but surpasses them ... A breathtaking achievement. In terms of scope, it displays a rare immensity, and its characterisations, narrative twists and, most of all, the sheer compassion of the storytelling, will leave readers quivering with joy. The result is a profoundly moving novel, undoubtedly one of the year's highlights. It is also Mr. Hosseini's best and most ambitious work yet." - Irish Examiner.
