Discovering Armenia 9 day circuit - Day 5 (late afternoon and evening) - Towards the North East region of Tavuch - Dinner at Dilijan - The 20th of April 2014

(...)

We set off on our way to Dilijan having had to cross part of the North East region of the country which looked very green and  partly "abandoned" after having been ravished by the ongoing conflicts with Azerbaijan. At one particular moment we could see the river frontier with Georgia in the distance. It wasn't until we reached the outskirts of Dilijan that I felt the dampness of the forested area, still among some of the major holiday and health resorts nowadays.

We would be spending the night at a rather luxurious hotel located in the Dilijan National park, whose surrounding forest has been designated as a nature reserve, just in time for dinner, an Easter-looking type of meal, whose traditional cakes we mostly appreciated.

The fancy bread with the boiled eggs for decoration seemed and tasted like the ones we bake in Portugal over the same period of time, the exception being the fact that in Portugal the eggs are not dyed and rather than being placed on top are partly stuck inside, with just two or three secured by trellis of dough.
