Bordeaux - Day 2 (afternoon still) - The 30th of November 2013

(...)

We walked back to the Bourse Square where I took some photos of some of the sculpted figures on one of its façades before having had something to eat prior to returning back.

The weather seemed slightly better so we walked towards the Quinconces square once more, though this time by the lighthouse-like entrance gates.

Having reached the Cathedral square we finally managed to visit its interior, which not being extraordinary was still worth being noted.

Our next venture was slight out of the heart of the city, once we decided to visit the Cemetery of the Chartreuse we had passed on the way form the airport.
Across it the Baroque church of Saint Bruno, which we wrongly decided not to visit. I would later find out there were frescoes in it which might have been worth looking at.

There is no morbidity in wandering about cemeteries wherever we travel to. Since I have read they are the most quiet places one can ponder on I have been "using" them. The fact that one is surrounded by silence and the inevitable presence of graves does make us think  beyond what is visible. I sometimes wonder who some of those people were, what they liked, particularly the youngest who passed away untimely, as my daughter. Did they achieve any of their dreams? What did they expect out of their lives? Which was their objective in life? (what is mine?) Were they happy whilst alive? Did they believe in life after death?, I wonder.

The moment we walked out we came across a street notice making us aware of some of the perils the living are confronted with, especially in war areas.

By the time we reached the city centre we were exhausted because of having walked all day long with just half an hour stop for lunch ... and as the sunset by the Bourse was beginning to set in we decided to retire till the following day.
