We came across Carla's mother and her little sister as they were walking into Manguinho carrying quite a load on their heads, as well as Diva's grandfather who had been out fishing.
Diva's mother finally got home so the next few moments were spent talking to her and handing her two dresses that Lurdes had brought especially for her. They were both visibly happy to have met each other and so was little Diva.
We finally made it to Eunice de Jesus' where Henriqueta had the possibility to hold "her" little girl, who was initially very shy but who gradually became attached to Henriqueta throughout the rest of the day, as from the moment she met her she followed her everywhere, though in a rather "subtle" way.
She tried on the new outfit Henriqueta had brought for her and so did Neuza, whose "godmother" Margarida had also sent her one. Simone had already received her birthday present, but was exceptionally entitled to some "extra" little presents sent to her by Eva. We would soon meet her mother as we made our way to Cutelo Miranda.
We stopped at Leinira's, my "protégée to soon find out that having heard some rumours that I was in the village had gone searching for me, so worriedby the fact that we might not have time enough to visit all the girls if we were to wait any longer, as they live in various locations of the village associated with the fact that none of us was used to climb up and down mountais the way the children did (and do all the time) we headed back to the port.
On the way we stopped by Eunice de Jesus' godmother, so that she had the opportunity to meet the "other godmother" she had so often heard of.
On the way down we stopped by Katiza's, another of my "protégées" to invite her for the birthday party but she was out, so Eunice was to become the next girl to be "officially" invited for the birthday party.
It was Lurdes herself who handed out the presents she had brought on behalf of her son Luis and his girlfriend Catia, once they happen to be her "godparents". Eunice's siter Elcy who happens to be our (mine and Lurdes') protégée was at school so we decided to head back to the pension.
As soon as we walked out of Eunice's I sighted "my" little Leinira who had been desperately looking for me all over the village.
By the time we reached MiraMaio it was already three o 'clock and we hadn't had anything to eat since early morning, so decided to have a small break but not before handing out some presents to a small group of girls who had been following us all morning and whose presents I had left behind believing they would be at school till the end of the afternoon.
A friendly hog was awaiting us at the the corner of the street and although I didn't have any presents for him decide to take his picture.
