We decided to stroll around the city having stopped at the Romanesque Liebfrauen Church whose vaulted ceilings and altar piece I was fascinated by. It is said to date back to the 12th century with 15th century addings. There were some modern-looking paintings incorporated in the church decoration which I felt blended almost perfectly to the rest of the overall decoration.
Once we were outside we headed towards the river having come across quite a few sculpted figures and a rather exquisite door painting. An old 1689 tavern's façade did catch our attention the most though.
Despite standing in a rather discreet place at the Florinsmarkt Square, the Nikolaus von Kues Denkmal stood out because of its greyish colour among colourful buildings, such as the 1419 Gothic style with a baroque touch Florin Church, the old Kauf und Danzhaus and the Shöffen Haus. In the old times this square is said to have been used as the political and business centre of the city.
