New Zealand circuit - On the way to Arrowtown; Arrowtown - Day 16 - The 14th of March 2019 (morning)

The whole landscape changed as we were approaching  Arrowtown. I was surprised to see raindeer, I must confess because obsviously I had for moments forgotten I was in snow and glacier clad mountains and therefore this was the expected type of scenary.

We stopped at Arrowtown, which is nestled in the rugged mountains we had crossed before. Known to have been a gold-mining town in the past, where Chinese miners are to have played an important role around 1865 because of having filled the void left by European miners, the little city was very picturesque. It was if one had walked into the past directly, without the necessary preparation. We didn't have time to visit the Chinese village, as we were expected for a light lunch. I strolled around in the main street lines with many colonial shops still bearing the names of their historic past.
