Upon getting back into Auckland and because the weather was favourable we strolled around the Viaduct harbour and the Hobson West Marina for a few hours before deciding to visit the Sky Tower, which we did after having had dinner at our favourite Turkish restaurants.
I was surprised to find out that the 328 metre high Sky Tower is visited by approximately 500,000 people per year. I am fearful of heights but felt I should not miss the opportunity of enjoying the views of the city from the observation levels of the tower. I did not take the lift to the upper level and was satisfied enough to stroll around the lower of the observation levels without getting too close to the glass windows.
The New Zealand circuit would start the following day and we had to therefore join the group at the designated Youth Hostel, which wasn't too far from the hotel we had been staying at. We made our way up the hill for the last time, so as to collect our luggage and get ourselves reaccommodated.
The Hostel didn't resemble any of the hostels I am used to in Portugal and had I not established a strong bond witt the previous hotel we had been at and I might say this latter was actually better, not so much in terms of the available space in the room but certainly in regards to the bathroom and its facilities.
