Sar-e Agha Seyed village, Iran - The 13th of August 2108

Upon reaching the village where we would stay for the night I must confess a shock because it looked rather different from the photos I had seen before. The mud and wooden houses (if we could call them houses according to western house parametres) looked rather fragile. We were soon surrounded by children, one of whom (Mohammad) we  asked to be our local guide.

Prior to the village tour our taxi driver friend took us to a family's and upon having been given the possibility to sleep either in their one-room house or the outside patio we opted for the first, though neither of us knew by then how we would be able sleep in our sleeping bags, once the space seemed fairly small for three adults. One of my main concerns was also the fact that there wasn't any toilet, the nearest being inside the mosque.

The village tour was quite interesting. We met many people, mostly children but also a few adults, dedicated to weaving or small busines. The fact that I showed some interest in having a traditional woolen Bakhtiari vest led them to bring out a huge variety of colourful silk dresses for women, once the vests are exclusively used by women and the vests solely by men.

They refused to accept the fact that I wanted male clothing for myself. I ended up buying a male vest and an embroidered skarf. Adolescents simulated a wedding ceremony in which I took part wearing female clothes, which was one of the most interesting moments of the day among the Bakhtiari.
