My 19 Day Iranian Azerbaijan circuit - From the Caspian rives to Tabriz and Takht-e Soleiman - Day 7 (late morning and early afternoon) - Meshkin Shahar - Arshog Castle ruins - The 15th of May 2017

We headed  to Meshkin Shahar soon after having visited the Shahr Yeri where communication with the local people was difficult, I believe because of them being slightly distrustful of foreigner visitors. We managed somehow to talk to a vendor who goes from village to village selling handicrafted rugs and carpets.

We checked in at the hotel we would be staying for the night, which was located right in the central part of the village and just a few metres away from the Arshog Castle and old fortress ruins, which we visited after a rather light and tasteful lunch.

The ruins covered a fairly wide area and were, I must say, rather impressive at places. Mount Sabalam could be seen in the distance and it set the perfect scenary for the overall atmosphere which was one of silence.
