The Myanmar discovery circuit - Day 8 (late morning) - Pindaya - Shan paper parasol making process; lunch at a local restaurant - The 19th of November 2015

We took shelter in one of the litle stalls at the base entrance to the Shwe U Min cave ensemble where we ended up buying some fruit delicacies as we waited for the rain to stop.

Because the Shan paper parasol creations are well known in the Pindaya area we headed to one of the workshops so as to accompany their fabrication process. The meticulous work involved in their making and the discreet beauty of the various sizes of parasols had us all astounded. Most of us bought them and those who didn't could resist buying some foldable Shan paper decorative lanterns and other artefacts.

Being an handicraft lover I couldn't help but buy one of those (the smallest dark red one wih some flower motifs that was in display). What I'll do with it I honestly don't know and even if I keep it hidden from sight I'll know the amount of time and dedication it took to have it made.

We finally sat down for lunch at a local restaurant overlooking a river where avocado plates were the speciality. I love the avocado taste and therefore ended up drinking an avocado juice and having an avocado salad to go with it.
