Outside the Dravidian styled Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple dating back to the 10th century (according to archaeological inscriptions), also known as Thiruvarangam a one man protester caught everyone's attention and despite not knowing what was being said the fact that a photo of a recently accused female Minister could be seen on the front part of his bicycle meant that in some sort of way whatever might have been said was certainly related to that.
The on-going restoration works and the covered up 21 gopurams didn't allow us to get a thorough overview of the whole complex which comprises 7 concentric walls, 39 pavilions and fifty shrines of dozens of forms of Vishnu, thus being the largest temple complex in India and naturally a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus (especially Srivaishnavites).
Photographing was difficult though I managed to obtain some rather good images of detailed carved sculptures as we moved among the so called allowed areas.
