The 8 day trip to Iran - "Iranian Treasures" - (Day 3 morning) - Persepolis (cont.), The Royal tomb of Artaxerxes II and the overview of the site - The 18th of September 2014

(...)

Thought to have housed the bones of Artaxerxes II (d 358 BCE) the tomb behind the Hall of the 100 Columns, which we had external access to (once two of the four tombs to be found in the hill are concealed from view and the incomplete one further along believed to pertain to Artaxerxes III stands behind the Treasury area) is of extreme beauty as far as the upper decoration is concerned, even if it's hard to look up, so as to observe details over an extended period of time .

The climb was worth it because it did provide some of the best possible views over the whole site, which bearing in mind the time it had taken to "briefly" visit it had to be huge, though the bird-eye view perspective provided us with a more accurate overview.

I felt this had been a key visit, most of us had certainly been looking forward to, but one which, according to my personal opinion, would  have nevertheless required a lot more time.

It is certainly a place I would like to come back to sometime ...
