Edinburgh, the walk before the enlightenment walking tour - The 25th of January 2014 (morning)

We had booked an enlightenment walk which would start at ten o'clock right in front of Usher Hall, a good half an hour away from where we were staying, so we decided to take "our" walk early as well so that we might be able to take some photos.

The sky was grey again (a colour we would soon get used to) and according to the late forecast there could be some strong rain showers and wind, which we were not at all prepared for. But because unexpected situations like those may occur during this time of the year we felt  that all we could (and should) do was to go ahead and try to see as much as we possibly could under the circumstances.

The façade of the Georgian hotel we were staying at beside Calton Hill.

Just across the road from the hotel on the Royal Terrace Gardens.

Edinburgh Theatre House on Leith Walk.

Saint Mary's Cathedral on the conjunction of Leith Walk and Little King's Street.

Giraffe sculptures on Leith Street.

Balmoral Hotel and the statue of Wellington on Waterloo Place.

Princes Street Gardens (left) and the Scott Monument (right) on Princes Street.

Partial view of Edinburgh Castle as seen from Johnston's Terrace.

It took us slightly less than one hour to reach King Stables' Road right in front of Usher Hall and as we did it started to rain heavily forcing us to seek for shelter.

(To be continued)
