Having realised whilst reading in our guide book that we had missed or eventually overlooked some architectural details we decided to quickly venture into town to try to get a glimpse of those prior to embarking to Lisbon.
We first headed to the Rue de l'Intendance to photograph the sculptures on the façades of Hotel Pichon and Hotel Aquart, after which we continued onto Gambetta Square to admire as well as photograph the numerous sculpted masks on the façades of the eighteenth century buildings around it.
I couldn't understand why we had missed them altogether when we walked around those areas before but I was quite happy we went back for the sculptures were worth being looked at, notably because of their expressions rather than the sculpting itself.
(To be continued)
