I hadn't been to the 1585 Royal Fort of São Filipe in Cidade Velha since 2009 and though it was not a challenge to climb up so as to reach it as last time it certainly was a breathtaking experience similar to the one I had had before because of the magnificent views over the village.
Irrespective of the place you decide to take your photographs from you are sure to get the best possible views whether they are over the flat top hills, the sprinkling plantations along the valley or the ocean.
The pictures speak for themselves ...

The main reason we came back two consecutive days was because the restaurant I normally go to, whenever I visit Cidade Velha didn't have "caldo de peixe" a sort of fish stew I wanted Marie Hélène to try and they promised to have it for us the following day, which they did.
We ended up visiting the Fort, walking down to the village and sitting at the restaurant with two Brazilian Theatre connected gentlemen, whom we also drove back with to Sucupira.
The rest of the afternoon was spent at the market and Plateau, where I was supposed to meet the mother of one of the Cape Verdian Air Traffic Control cadets currently attending the ab-initio course at our Training School in Lisbon, though we went back to the pension fairly early to still have a bit of a rest before the arrival of the agency bus to take us to the airport. Having reached Lisbon Marie Hélène would still have to fly to France, whilst I would walk into a classroom and we were exhausted ...
The feeling I always have when it is time to fly back home after having spent some time in Cape Verde is one of "mission accomplished" ... bearing in mind what can still be done ... and will keep on being done, as long as I may ...
