Diary of an emotional trip to Calheta de São Miguel (the afternoon of Day 1) - The 11th of February 2012

After lunch, Sibylle and the "godmothers" got down to the "hard" work of getting the presents, books and souvenirs out of the bags and spread them on some tables, as in accordance with the children they were supposed to be for ... Birthday presents for those whose birthdays were from January through to April and books and souvenirs for the remaining ones

Conceição seen on the top left picture, whilst spreading the presents.

Soon after they started welcoming the first group of boys (Valter, Gerson, Patrick, Eduardo, Kevin, Veinilson and Wilson), who were given a puzzle, 3D wooden, plastic and paper constructions, all of which I had previously bought with Mr. Breitenstein's money.

A photo of the first group of boys to have received their 3D constructions (Gerson, Eduardo, Wilson, Valter and Patrick from left to right with Veinilson kneeling down in front).

Three of them (Kevin, Veinilson and Wilson) also received letters sent by their "godmothers" and two of them (Wilson and Kevin) were entitled to additional "surprises", one being the possibility Wilson had to talk over the phone with his "godmother" Vanessa in Lisbon, whilst Kevin got a full outfit of the Football club of Porto for his birthday from his "godparents" Catia and Luis.

Ismael, Andelson and Pedrilson collected their 3D constructions later, though Claudio and Marcio, who were also entitled to some never collected theirs.

Some of them (Wilson, Valter, Veinilson and Gerson) showed up later in the day to have them see their completed constructions.

Aditional information
Although none of these boys pertains to the Academy, with Valter being the exception (as he runs in the boys' group) Ismael, Gerson, Veinilson, Patrick and Pedrilson attended all of my workshops since 2009, with the others having started attending them in 2010 and Kevin just last year's one, this being the reason why they are and will be forever thought of.
