Berlin - The fifth day (around Tiergarten still) - the 25th of April 2011

From where we were we could see the majestic Schloss Bellevue, the official residence of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. It has had to be renovated so as to restore its former glory.

The sky suddenly grew darker and afraid that it would start raining we headed towards the Regierungsviertel with the Bundeskanzleramt, the official residence of the German Chanceler and over the Moltkebrücke (with its angels dressed up as soldiers)  in order to reach the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of the World Cultures), which we expected to be our final destination of today's visit.

The building also known as Kongresshale or "pregnant oyster"  because of its shape together with the "Butterfly" sculpture by Henry Moore hosts now events showcasing foreign cultures.

We sat down at its esplanade café and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon and prior to getting back to the hotel still decided to walk up to the Reichstag building, which initally  constructed (1884-1894) to house the German Parliament  ended up " experiencing" a whole amount of events and emotions, having had its "face" changed significantly over the years. Its glass dome has become one of the landmarks of Berlin, we are told.

We were exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel ... but definately happy ... it has been another "full" day ... and we already feel that after tomorrow it is going  to be hard to be heading back home.
