Paris - Paroisse Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois - The 7th of May 2017

Having reached Paris early in the afternoon and stayed at one of the airport hotels, once I dropped my bags I headed to the city centre and just tried to stroll around the Louvre area where I was expected to see an exhibition, despite the fact that I didn't.

I stumbled upon Paroisse Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois by mere accident and decided to visit it. If I was impressed by its exterior porch  I became utterly speechless as I walked around its interior chapels.

Some musicians were rehearsing  some religious chant, which ended up giving the whole church a special touch of peacefulness and beauty that will certainly linger for a while.

The latest film I have watched ...

The Zookeeper's wife is a rather interesting film and more so when we realise it is based on a  non-fiction account of its main characters - the keepers of the Warsaw Zoo during World War II Antonina and Jan Zabinski, who helped save around 300 people putting their lives at risk by using their personal villa and Zoo premises to shelter them in.

I felt Jessica Chastain, Johan Heldenbergh and Daniel Brühl, not to mention several other actors. were convincing enough in their performances. If for nothing else it is a film which should be seen because it does celebrate two of many ordinary heroes.

Aviation oriented conference at Hotel Neptun, Dubrovnik - Babin Kut Peninsula, Croatia - The 24th and 25th of April 2017

I couldn't help downloading some of the pictures taken during the extremelly well organised two day Aviation oriented conference in Dubrovnik, which had me gather with colleagues from several countries I  do come across on a yearly basis, but also  a few newcomers  and several I hadn't seen for a while, this being the case of a former student of mine from Cape Verde (some twenty years ago), who now works for the Civil Aviation Authority in her home country.

What we discussed throughout these two days is not relevant for the blog but we did work hard and had hardly any time to do anything else but listen to and share opinions and ideas among ourselves, whose relevance may have an impact in the way we (I) teach.
