Calheta de São Miguel, Cape Verde - Day 1 (evening) - The 9th of February 2013

The handing out of the presents continued till late afternoon, as children kept on arriving and the ultimate goal was to be able to hand them all out, which was a difficult task taking into account that there were almost ninety children and we would be spending the next morning and early afternoon in Tarrafal.

João and I didn't resist taking a photo with Tarine and Leinira wearing the Carnival masks.

We all felt quite happy by the end of the day, despite being tired out and still worried by the fact that we still had quite a few presents left. For any of the colleagues who came with me, as well as their wives it was an unexpected experience as they later told me, but according to Jack Kornfield "Les choses les plus importantes de notre vie ne sont pas extraordinaires ni grandioses, ce sont les moments òu nous nous sentons touchés l'un par l'autre" and throughout the day there were several touching moments, which none of us would easily forget...
