Diary of an emotional trip to Calheta de São Miguel (the evening od Day 1) - Cutelo Miranda - The 11th of February 2012.

As Telma and Conceição wandered around the village with their "protegées" in order to get to know their families and feel the "atmosphere" of the village, Celeste went up to Cutelo Miranda to meet her "protegée" and deliver some presents to the family Landim, whose children have Portuguese "godparents" (Gabriela, Celeste, Carla Oliveira and I included).

As Lou walked in from school she was shocked and trilled to find out her "godmother" Celeste, who she had only exchanged letters and photos with, was there to meet her.

Lou seen her holding her "godmother"  Celeste and wearing the new oufit she had brought along for her birthday.

It was then Elias' turn to get the birthday presents from his "godmother" Gabriela  (a T-shirt, a football and som football gloves), but he is said to have chosen to put on his full ADEC goalkeeper outfit (with the new gloves) and have two photos taken simulating some goal keeping moves.

As Celeste was being shown some of the domestic animals the family have, there came along another of her "protegées" (Aniza) in the arms of a cousine to meet her and collect the birthday presents.

One last photo was taken with some of the family members before leaving Cutelo Miranda behind before heading down to the village centre.

The evening was then quietly spent at MiraMaio Pension exchanging the emotions experienced during that first day, not before having handed out the presents bought for Marlene's children by their "godmothers" Adelaide, Marta and Mia.
